Magma Taishi Cosplay at Anime Expo 2011

Magma Taishi (or Ambassador Magma) was the title character of the Japanese live-action superhero TV series, "Magma Taishi" (the U.S. English-dubbed version was known as "The Space Giants"). The series was created by the famous mangaka Osamu Tezuka, and aired on Fuji TV from July 4, 1966 to September 25, 1967, with a total of 52 episodes. It was the first color tokusatsu TV series in Japan, beating Ultraman to the airwaves by 6 days.

With the exception of the boots and gloves (which are rubber items that I spray-painted gold), all parts of this costume were handmade by me, including the wig. The most difficult part was the mask, which took me an entire month to complete.
